Dancer and choreographer, Giovanni di Cicco studied in Italy, France and Germany. in 1988/89 he was invited to the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen under the direction of Pina Bausch, where he choreographed for students there a work called OCCASIONE PER UNO SCHIZZO.
He performed with companies that include Daniel Larrieu’s ASTRAKAN di Daniel Larrieu (Paris), SOSTA PALMIZI (Turin), LUISA CASIRAGHI (Milan), SUSANNA BELTRAMI (Milan), COMPAGNIA VIRGILIO SIENI DANZA (Florence), COMPANY BLU (Florence), SUTKI (Turin), PLAN K (Brussells), AXAS DANCE COMPANY (Winterthur), Paco Decina’s POSTRETROGUARDIA Paris), TEATRO dell’ARCHIVOLTO (Genoa), CATHERINE DIVERRES (Rennes).
He has collaborated with directors such as Giancarlo Cobelli, Denis Krief, Lorenzo Mariani, Giorgio Gallione, Jonathan Miller, Pierre Constant, Daniele Abbado and many other for productions at Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, Ferrara Musica, Wexford Festival Opera, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto, Teatro Valli di Reggio Emilia, Accademia Santa Cecilia and La Scala.
He is currently working in Genoa with DIST- Laboratorio di Informatica Musicale in the Faculty of Engineering. He taught mime at the Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice and in Genoa. He is a member of the Galata Mevlevi Music and Sema Ensemble in Istanbul. He has been guest choreographer for the Contemporary Dance Comnpany of Cuba. Under the auspices of Master Masamichi Noro he is in charge of dance and theatre training in the Kinomichi Method at the International Noro Centre in Paris. He has worked with the COMPAGNIA ARBALETE in Genoa since 1983, and from 1987 has shared the job of Artistic Director with Claudia Monti. In 2005 he co-founded the Institute for Traditional Arts in Genoa.
