Amélie Haas
costume designer

Born in Innsbruck Amélie studied the History of Art, the History of Costume, and Architecture in the 20th Century at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

She collaborated as costume designer in productions of Robert Wilson, Jürgen Flimm, Peter Stein and Peter Sellars in Salzburger Festspielen, Wiener Festwochen, Opernhaus Zürich, Théâtre du Châtelet, De Nederlandse Opera and others.
She designed costumes for WET SNOW, written by the composer Jan van de Putte for Holland Festival in 2004 directed by Giuseppe Frigeni. In 2007 she worked in the new production of MONTEZUMA by Antonio Vivaldi in Deutsche Oper am Rhein and in Theater Erfurt for the production TANNHÄUSER collaborating with the director Guy Montavon and the designer Edoardo Sanchi. In 2008 she was invited to design costumes at Opéra National de Bordeaux for FIDELIO and for the contemporary opera PASSION written as a new commission of Festival Aix-en-Provence to the composer Pascal Dusapin. Both productions were directed by Giuseppe Frigeni.
In 2009 she colaborated with Viktor&Rolf for the Robert Wilson production of FREISCHÜTZ in Baden-Baden and in the same season she created costumes for ELEKTRA at Staatstheater Wiesbaden.
For the 2010 season she has been working on the costumes for DIE TRAGÖDIE DES TEUFELS at the Bayerischen Staatsoper in München, music by Peter Eötvös and installation by Emilia Kabakov and in May the revival of ELEKTRA (direction and set design by visual artist Rebecca Horn) will be presented once more at the Hessisches Theater Wiesbaden.
